I work with children, youth and adults individually and in groups to help clients uncover and move past the various obstacles that might be blocking the path to a more fulfilled life.

Painting Class

Children constantly experience life transitions and have to learn to navigate their changing world. The growth and change process is made even more difficult when children have experienced trauma, loss or victimization. Children naturally work through problems with art and play and can benefit from the use of expressive therapy. Your child would benefit from counselling and expressive therapy for any of the following reasons:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • grief and loss

  • attention deficit

  • physical or psychological trauma

  • bullying and peer victimization

  • separation anxiety

Children

  • parental separation

  • transitioning to a new school

  • tantrums and outbursts

Adolescence and young adulthood can be challenging because of increased decision-making, new relationships and hormonal changes. As peer relationships become increasingly important and parental relationships often take the backseat, it can be useful for youth to explore obstacles they are facing with a therapist in a safe space free of judgment. Youth can benefit from counselling and art therapy when experiencing difficulties like:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • grief and loss

  • attention deficit

  • physical or psychological trauma

  • self-harm

  • bullying and cyberbullying

  • parental separation

Youth

  • life transitions

  • relationship conflicts

  • decision making

  • self-exploration

Psychology Patient

Working with a counsellor can help you create the life that you want to live. If you feel stuck, stressed, depressed or just need somebody to talk to, counselling and art therapy can help to facilitate the change that you need. You may want to pursue counselling if you are having difficulty with any of the following:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • suicidal ideation

  • grief and loss

  • trauma

  • shame

  • stress

  • self-harm

Adults

  • life transitions

  • relationship conflicts

  • psychosomatic symptoms

  • self-exploration

Hand Pile of Happy Group

Group counselling opens the door to connecting with people who may be going through similar challenges. The heart of group counselling is the group members, who can offer support, advice and coping strategies from someone who "gets it". Groups can be immensely powerful in providing a safe space to work through obstacles.

Groups

Open studio groups are groups which focus on art-making as the primary therapeutic benefit. Creating art can be a significant act of self-care which allows for time away from technology, work or otherwise stressful situations. Exploring creativity through art and music facilitates stress reduction through emotional catharsis.

Workshop

Workshops

Psycho-educational groups or workshops are designed to explore various psychological processes and components. Learning how thoughts, feelings, behaviours and symptoms originate and are perpetuated can be useful in the growth and change process. Pyscho-educational workshops get to the root of the psychology and offer tools to build from there.

Workshops can be designed for any specific group of people. Do you can an idea for a group experience for your team? Contact me for contracting a workshop.
