I started my private practice right after graduation and did independent contracting before opening my own art therapy studio in downtown Vancouver, BC. Then, I moved to Ontario to begin working in a virtual practice. I have experience working in many different iterations of private practice. Oh, and did I mention I graduated in 2020? Navigating the mental health care field amidst a global pandemic gave me more experience than I ever hoped to gain.

In school, we are taught how to care for our clients without any emphasis on how to care for ourselves.

how I work:

supervision approach: I work from an arts-based phenomenological and developmental model. I grow with you as a therapist, and the supervision approach changes as you have different support needs. I love exploring artwork from a phenomenological approach, considering what we can uncover from the artwork when we bracket out assumptions and distill to its essence. Behavioural observations and a deep understanding of the expressive therapies continuum informs my work from somatic and spiritual lenses.

my intersections: My intersections show up in my work. I am not a blank slate. I am committed to learning about systemic oppression and engaging in anti-colonial, anti-capitalist, HAES, disability justice and intersectional feminist work. I am a white, cis, spiritual, anxious, neurodivergent, queer, fat woman. My pronouns are she/her.

teaching/supervising: I was an adjunct faculty member at Adler University from September 2022 to August 2025. I taught Art-Based Assessments, Group Skills, Studio Art and co-taught Pre-Practicum Lab. I began supervising students in my private practice in September 2024.

WHAT TO EXPECT
supervision might look like:
private practice support: you didn't learn how to operate a business in grad school. I am here to support you in the twists-and-turns of working in your own private practice or working as an independent contractor in a group practice. You don't have figure this out alone.

art-making and art-wondering: as art therapists, we spend time each session making art and engaging in image dialogue. We might make response art, or follow specific art prompts to dive deeper into your experiences as an art therapist. We will also look at client art together and engage in phenomenological processing.

case consultations: tell me about your clients - both where you are stuck and where you are doing good work. We explore your therapist-client relationship and consider resources or approaches that might be helpful to introduce in your therapeutic work.

creating inner trust in your skills and abilities: I call this sitting in your skills. What I often notice is that therapists feel like they don't know enough after graduation to do deep, meaningful work. There is a pressure to invest right away in years and years of continuing education and intense training programs, all in an effort to be a "good enough" therapist. When we sit in the skills we have, we learn to trust our abilities, our therapeutic instincts and we learn who we do the best work with. Then, we can pursue further advancement in the career coming from a place of intuitive knowing rather than pressure and shame.

burnout prevention: care work consistently has the highest levels of compassion fatigue and burnout in our world. I care about your clients and their well-being, and I also care about you and your well-being. We explore your own care strategies, resources and rituals so you can stay working and doing what you love with longevity.

money conversations: that's right. This is a profession, and we deserve to be paid for our time, effort and energy. Money is often a topic that feels really sticky for many therapists because care work is traditionally undervalued in our society. I am here to have those hard conversations about setting session fees, cancellation/no show fees, doing split-fee work and sliding scale. We do more impactful work when we are not in an active scarcity mindset.

support from the comfort of your home (or office): virtual sessions can occur from any private space, offering an element of comfort and ease when processing deep work.

your investment
1:1 sessions: I charge what you charge. I know how important the supervisory relationship is when you are just starting out. And, I know how it can sometimes feel like you are treading water and trying to stay afloat financially. For a limited time, I will be offering individual supervision sessions based on what you charge your individual clients in an earnest attempt to help supervision feel more accessible to you. 1 client hour translates to 1 supervision hour. Only available for practitioners in private practice, with $135 minimum. āā

Individual sessions can be booked on an as-needed basis or we can follow a set schedule for more consistency and accountability. CATA recommends 1 hour of supervision for every 20 client hours. Check the CATA website for more information on supervision requirements for the RCAT designation: Registered Membership

Group sessions: $90 per session, groups consisting of 2-4 people, running from 1.5 hours to 3 hours. ā
ā
Group sessions are scheduled in advance with private peer groups to maintain strong working relationships. If you are interested in attending group sessions, each member will need to do a supervision intake. Group sessions are book on consistent days/times either weekly, every other week or monthly.
my investment
I am invested in my supervisees and take active steps to ensure that I show up to sessions fully and authentically. I maintain a small client base and book only a few clients a day to prevent burnout.
